Just today, two policemen Police Senior Master Sergeant Jason Magno and Master Sergeant Alice Balido responded to an emergency dispatch about a man was going amok inside Initao College. The two immediately left for the school and proceeded to its covered court which is partially crowded and a some students and teachers were nearby.
The unidentified man was apparently holding a grenade. But when they tried to approach and attempt to subdue him. He immediately pulled the pin off the grenade and threw it to where the civilians were. Police Senior Master Sergeant Jason Magno watched in horror as the panicked civilians teachers and students scampered away from the tumbling grenade, however, they ran too late, which means that they’ll be within the blast radius, the explosion will surely injure or kill more innocent lives if it is not stopped.
Good cop, Senior Master Sergeant Jason Magno ran and jumped over the ticking bomb covering it with his body in an attempt to quell the blast and save nearby innocent people who would surely be injured if the bomb had detonated at that instant. His quick thinking and brave decision making saved many innocent lives. But the blast critically injured him, which resulted in his untimely death as soon as he arrived at the hospital after the incident.
“Niyakap niya ‘yung granada. Dinapaan niya ang granada para ‘di malakas ang impact (He embraced the grenade. He dropped to cover the grenade so the impact wouldn’t be strong),” said – Police Captain Princess Velarde

The brave policeman was known to be very kind, according to his colleagues. He will be surely missed. As of the time of writing, Misamis police command is considering an award for Magno to remember him for his brave deed. Police Senior Master Sergeant Jason Magno died, leaving a family behind.
