Trillanes arrived safely in Davao City to face the arraignment of his case in Davao City Regional Trial Court Branch 54, at the sala of Judge Melinda Alconcel Dayanghirang.Although, though it was not yet required for him to come this early for the case and the Duterte camp had been expecting alternate legal maneuvers to prevent Trillanes from stepping foot in Davao for security concerns — yet still.
Much to everyone’s amazement. Here he is.
Trillanes arrived in Davao City and was met with some of his Davao based supporters. Even one of the lawyers I knew who was there during that time said that the mood was a bit of a shock for everyone. In fact, many was astonished and awestruck of how brave Senator Trillanes to come right in Duterte’s home city famous for its Davao Death Squads.
He arrived at the Francisco Bangoy International Airport in the wee-hours of January 15, 2018. Since the hearing will start 8:30 AM in the morning. A man of regimental fortitude and experience surely does knows how to keep track of time. No wonder he’s always been on the top as one of the Philippine’s most productive senator.
You can clearly see the smile on his face. He doesn’t look tired and in fact he seemed to be very optimistic and confident about this case as he waved to his supporters and some of the media people in Davao City.
The libel charges against Trillanes were related to his accusations linking Paolo Duterte and Carpio to shabu smuggling. Paolo also said Trillanes accused him of engaging in extortion from ride-sharing firm Uber and other companies. In December 2018, Dayanghirang issued 4 arrest warrants against Trillanes. The senator posted bail of P96,000 – P24,000 for each of the 4 counts – at the Pasay RTC Branch 118.
The poorest and most productive Senator in the Philippines
Many people have began to love Senator Trillanes for his fearless stance against Duterte’s dictatorial pressures and maneuverings to clamp down democratic order and pursue relentless legal lynching of his critics. In fact, he has received veiled threats from the President himself by implying that someone will shoot Trillanes down.
But this did not deterred the brave Senator in his pursuit to punish many of the corrupt plunderers allied and seemingly protected by Duterte himself. Also, he’s been very vocal about the state-sponsored daily mass-executions happening in the country since Duterte took office in 2016. His exposes on many scandals about Duterte and his corrupt allies only shows how reliable Trillanes is in his position as a Senator of our country.
Imagine one politician. Who by all means sacrificed his peace and safety — in pursuit of the people’s best interest before his? We can be too sure that Duterte’s fixations on Trillanes has since escalated upon his flawed Presidential order which invalidates the granting of Trillanes amnesty simply because the AFP’s record section lost it.
We need young, brave, vocal and transparent politicians to lead our country. Not some old dimwits who knows nothing but talk trash against his critics and most notably the Church.
