MANILA — Expect more training exercises between the Philippines and Australia, as Operation Augury transitions into an Enhanced Defense Cooperation Program on December 1.
Arsenio Andolong, spokesperson of the Department of National Defense (DND), said the measure will result in quicker and more frequent training between forces of the two nations.
“If you read the statement, puro training ang kanilang pinaka-thrust nila ngayon, magsi-share sila ng skills enhancement saka magko-commit sila na (their main thrust now is more on trainings. They will also share their skills enhancement measures and commit) to conduct training and activities with our Armed Forces,” Andolong said.
This commitment is attributable to Australia's security stake in Southeast Asia and their desire to raise their engagement to a higher level, he added.
During the announcement of the program at the ADMM-Plus in Bangkok, Thailand on Saturday, both Australian Defense Minister Linda Reynolds and DND Secretary Delf..

COTABATO CITY – Some city government employees here have tested positive for drug use after a recent mandatory drug test conducted by anti-narcotics personnel, an official said.
One of the regular employees who tested positive went on absence without official leave and later arrested during drug buy-bust operation by the city police.
At least 10 other workers have shown signs of drug use and the urine samples taken from them are still undergoing confirmatory tests, said Rolen Balquin, city public safety office chief, on Monday.
The city government has about 2,200 employees and more than 90 percent of them have undergone a surprise drug test last Oct. 16, 2019.
“Only those who were on sick leave or vacation leave or official travel have not undergone the process of drug testing,” Balquin said.
Mayor Frances Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi earlier ordered the mandatory drug test to ensure the city has a “drug-free workplace”.
“Drug dependents have no place in the Cotabato City government,” Sayadi ..

“Remember, the PDEA is the head of the law enforcement cluster… whatever the head says, I will always respect it, being a member of the law enforcement… so yes, I adhere to what the director general says,” PNP officer-in-charge, Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa told reporters on Monday on the sidelines of the blessing of newly procured PNP equipment.
Gamboa said the ICAD has four clusters and the Vice President should focus on the drug war's aspect of advocacy and rehabilitation.
“Would it really matter who are on the list? Kaya nga palagi naming sinasabi, ako (What we always say, as for me,) I'm already suggesting (that) anyway the entire ICAD is composed of fo..
